Spring Break Delayed

Monday June 10th

We had to delay our trip to Murrells Inlet for Maggie’s spring break due to my surgery, so today we headed south!  We arrived late afternoon and had dinner with the Hills!

Tuesday

Kelley dropped off Maggie at the hotel about 9:30 a.m. and we decided our first adventure would be a round of miniature golf.  We went to Mt. Atlanticus Minotaur Golf in Myrtle Beach, a really cool course!  Grandma, Grandpa and Maggie all played well. It was a very close match!

Next stop was lunch at Tupelo Honey in The Market Commons.  Maggie really liked her biscuit drenched with Tupelo Honey and her Blueberry Spritzer!  After lunch, we went to Savannah’s Playground but we did not stay long because it was swamped with kids from several day camps.  We picked up ingredients for a shrimp boil and spent the rest of the afternoon with Kelley!

Wednesday

Yesterday, we found a crepe restaurant in The Market Commons so we took Maggie there for lunch. Her first crepe was a good choice, fresh blueberries and bananas with a bit of powdered sugar and whipped cream!  Maggie got to watch the cook make her crepe next to our table!

After lunch, we hurried next store to the movie theater to see Aladdin.  It was a very neat movie! We spent the rest of the day with Kelley, heading back to the hotel after dinner.

Thursday

We picked up Maggie and Kelley at 10 a.m. and drove to Charleston to go to Fort Sumter. We packed a lunch and had a picnic at the ferry terminal in Mt. Pleasant.  We caught the 1:00 p.m. ferry across Charleston Bay to the Fort.

We toured the Fort with Maggie filling out the Junior Ranger guide that revealed what happened there during the Civil War.

It was a beautiful day and our time at Fort Sumter passed quickly.

Maggie passed her test and was sworn in as a National Park Junior Ranger!  Also, she got her National Park Pass and her first stamps!

We arrived in Murrells Inlet just in time to pick up pizza for dinner.  It was great seeing you guys!  Due to Grandpa’s surgery, we were not able to come to SC during Maggie’s spring break as we traditionally do.  But Maggie, it was good to spend some time with you this year during your first week of summer break!  We had a great time.  Many thanks to the Hills for their hospitality!   We love you guys!

Audrey's 7th Birthday

Saturday June 8th

We were in Hillsborough this weekend and decided to celebrate Audrey's seventh birthday since we would not be with her on June 13th, her real birthday!

We planned to eat dinner and celebrate when Katie got home from work.  Audrey wanted pasta and strawberries so the cooking was easy!

Earlier in the day, Audrey and Grandma made a wonderful rainbow cake that tasted just a good as it looked!

One of Audrey's presents was a chemistry set.  So on Sunday, she made a volcano and...

some VERY STICKY slime!

Happy birthday Audrey.  Grandma and Grandpa love you and loved celebrating your birthday with you!
