Friday

Thanksgiving

 Wednesday 11/22

We headed to Hillsborough to enjoy the holiday with Katie, Audrey and Henry. We arrived about 2:30 pm, got settled and then we went downtown for a walk.  Of course, since we were downtown, a stop at Whit's was necesary!

Back at the house we played games, one of which Audrey was very excited about; something about an exploding cat.  Grandpa thinks it exploded my mind!

Thursday

Before any one was awake, Henry left to run the Turkey Trot in Durham with his Dad and Laura.  He came in 2nd in his age group and tenth overall (with hundreds of runners in the race)!

We had a great day hanging around the house, playing games, walking around the neighborhood, cooking, calling Aunt Kelley and Aunt Sally, cooking and then we ate a wonderful dinner.  We had turkey, filling, brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, green beans, chocolate chess and pecan pies! No shortage of food in the Alexander house. We are blessed!

Saturday

Maggie"s Confirmation Trip Nov 1st

 Thursday

We finally got our camper back following the slide replacement, so we are taking it SC to make sure all is well.  First we are headed to Suffolk to ride two rail trails which we will highlight in videos. The first was the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail.

It's a pretty great idea to turn an old road into a trail! It runs parallel to the canal through forest and farmland.  There are rest spots where you get a good views of the canal!

Friday

We rode the parts of the Suffolk Seaboard Coastline Trail that are completed. It will connect Suffolk to Chesapeake when completed.

Saturday

We drove to Myrtle Beach and went to the Hills for dinner.  Unfortunately, Rachel tested positive for Covid so she was isolating in her bedroom and will not be able to go to church in the morning.

Sunday

It is Confirmation Day.  We met Maggie, Kelley and Seth at the church.  The ceremony was very impressive. The photo below is the moment Maggie was confirmed as a member of the Belin United Methodist Church!

Note all of the girls wore white dresses and tiaras.  The stole Maggie is wearing she decorated at a retreat the class had.  The class also wrote a creed which the congregation read in the service!

After the service we went back to the Hills for lunch and cake with their neighbors.  Today was a very great experience for Maggie and a fun time for everyone.  So great to spend time with you guys, we love you all so much!
Oh, did I mention we had oysters on the grill that Jeff caught in a local creek today! Oh, and today I am 75 years old!

Monday

We drove home today safely!  But I do have to mention that our camper did not do well on the trip.  When Gretchen was putting out the slide, I heard a loud clank and the slide was damaged again.  On the way home we decided we had to get rid of the Lance and get a simpler trailer like our last one with no slides.  We do not want another trip ruined by a broken slide like our trip out west last spring.  So, we ended up trading the Lance for an InTech Sol Dusk.  We pick it up next week!

Hillsborough Oct 22nd

We are bound to NC to see Katie, Henry and Audrey; it's been a while!  We arrived in time for lunch and heard the details about daily life for the Alexanders. Then we headed to the Riverwalk.

Grandma and Grandpa walked the trail with Audrey and Katie. Henry took the opportunity to get his daily workout in by running the trail!

Of course the exercise stimulated everyone's desire for ice cream, and since Witt's was near by....

It was a short visit but it was great seeing the three of you.  We love you all!
