Extended Holiday

Katie's work schedule gave us an extended holiday this year. It began three days before Christmas when we went to NC to spend a few days with Katie, Henry and Audrey. We discovered if you tell Santa you will not be at your house on Christmas, he will deliver a few gifts the day before! This year it was a long board for Henry and a shorter skate board for Audrey.

We ate well, played games, put together Legos and puzzles and had a fine celebration. Thanks Katie for inviting us!

Gretchen and I returned home for a quiet Christmas, vineyard tours with the Helms, and a New Year's Eve celebration with Gary and Laurie, David and Emily, Norman and Jinx and Sally. Then....the quiet time ended on New Year's Day when Kelley, Maggie, Katie, Henry and Audrey arrived to celebrate Christmas in Lynchburg. Henry spent an excruciating two hours waiting for Kelley and Maggie to arrive before we could open presents. His marble run was a hit with all of the grandchildren, plus Katie!

I tried to get a picture of each grandchild for our triptych picture frame but failed since Audrey was in constant motion. But I did get one of the three together!

Food and drink abounded and Sally found out she really enjoyed the prosecco and red moscato combination!

It was Katie's birthday weekend so we celebrated with chicken pot pie and carrot cake!

By Sunday, everyone departed but Kelley and Maggie. So, we went down to the LOVE sign and a stroll on the Percival's Island Trail. Kelley wanted to see the sign since she knew the artist in high school.
Monday, the visit was over and Gretchen and I returned to our quiet chairs in front of the fire! We had a great time Kelley and Katie, thanks for coming to Lynchburg.

Gretchen and and I appreciate all of you who shared the holidays with us. We love you all and are truly blessed by your presence in our lives!
Note: Gretchen found a lactose free pumpkin pie recipe that is as good as any we have tasted!
