Chesapeake Bay 2011

Had a nice, quiet, easy sail out of the Corrotoman and up the Rappahannock to Urbanna; 8-10 knot breeze with less than one foot waves about 7 nm. Got a transient slip at the Town Marina.
Urbanna is a quaint well kept town with a lot of history.

Urbanna is one of four remaining towns out of the 19 ordered to be built in 1680 by the House of Burgesses! It was a tobacco shipping center and large hogsheads (barrels) of tobacco were rolled down the hill from the John Mitchell store (on hill to right in picture) to waiting ships going to England.

There were scores of bicyclists here today; police officers riding 250 miles from Virginia to DC in honor of fallen comrades. Neat sight!

Marshall's Drug Store here has a counter like Pierson's that still serves breakfast and lunch. How can I resist in the morning?
